Warriors Drop Season Finale to Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The El Camino College men's basketball team lost in their final game of the season by a score of 88-76 to Long Beach City College at the Hall of Champions Gym on Friday evening. 

The Warriors finished their season with a 6-22 overall record and a 1-9 record in conference play.

Jamal Howard continued his strong sophomore campaign as he finished as the Warriors top scorer.  Howard finished the game with 23 points on five rebounds and five steals. Three other sophomores Rashon Crutcher (16 points), David Henderson III (15 points), and Jason Vasquez (13 points) all finished in double-digit scoring numbers as well.  

Aaron Jelks led all scorers with 27 points for the Vikings (18-10, 5-5).

The Warriors shot 53.1% (26-for-49) from the field while the Vikings shot 55.8% (29-for-52) from the field. 

The Vikings took a 47-44 lead before the first half ended.  The score was tied at 44-44 with 5 seconds left in the first half before Aaron Jelks completed a 3-point play right before the half ended.

The Warriors either traded the lead or led for most of the second half until the Vikings took the lead at 71-69 with 6:30 left in the game.  The Vikings would outscore the Warriors 17-to-7 for the final six minutes of the game enroute to their 88-76 victory.
