After dropping a five-set loss to Chaffey College over the weekend, Citrus College sought revenge Wednesday and grabbed a 3-1 victory (25-13, 23-25, 26-24, 25-19).

The Owls improve to 2-5 on the year with their first home win while the Panthers fall to 4-3 overall.

Caren Stone had a solid night, finishing with 16 kills on a .244 attack clip, while also posting 23 digs defensively. Kalin Greene followed with 15 kills and Miah Soriano added 10 kills. Alexis Aguayo finished with 19 digs and Vanessa Marquez dished out 46 assists.

Citrus came out swinging and held Chaffey to a .000 hitting percentage in the opening set while hitting .216 as a team.

Chaffey took the second set, but the Owls dug deep in the third to take the swing set. Down 23-19 late in the set, Citrus called a timeout and scored five-straight points to make things interesting. Stone started the run with back-to-back kills to force a Panther timeout, but a Chaffey error and a Greene kill gave the Owls set point. Chaffey scored a quick point but an error put momentum back in Citrus' favor and Soriano laid down a kill to secure the set win.

The Panthers tried to battle back in the fourth and pulled within one, 17-16, but four-straight points off Panther errors all but sealed it.

Citrus heads to the Pasadena City College Quad on Friday, first taking on host PCC at 11 a.m.
