Softball rallies against Desert

The Saddleback softball team rallied for a 12-9 win at College of the Desert on Friday in Palm Desert.  Mia Calderon had a big day as the Bobcats evened their record at 4-4.

Calderon finished 3-for-3 with a walk and five RBI on the day.  She hit her second home run of the season in the first inning to give Saddleback a 2-0 lead.  Calderon then gave the Bobcats a 3-1 lead when she singled home Isabella Harris in the top half of the third inning.  Saddleback took an 8-1 lead in the fourth inning, with Calderon doubling home both Harris and Sarah Araujo to cap off the scoring.

Desert rallied in the fifth inning, scoring eight times to take a 9-8 lead into the sixth inning.  Saddleback quickly rebounded to tie the score in the sixth inning, with Calderon scoring on a wild pitch from third base.

Saddleback rallied for three more runs in the top half of the seventh inning, taking advantage of a couple of miscues from Desert.  Desiree McGruder was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and advanced to third when Alyssa Jimenez reached base on an error.  McGruder would eventually score the go-ahead run when Lily Troiano singled to left field for a 10-9 lead.  The Bobcats would tack on two more runs on a passed ball and ground out to finish off the scoring.

Saddleback is now 4-4 on the season after the win on Friday.  The Bobcats and Roadrunners will play again on Saturday at 10:00 AM.
