Owls Bring Onslaught of Offense

Citrus College came out and dominated a 16-1 victory over Santa Monica Community College at the Cuesta College tournament.

The Owls improve to 7-5 overall, while the Corsairs drop to

Gabriella Terry led the Owls with four goals, followed by Averi Bishop's three goals. Mia Meldrum, Sey Currie and Sophia Leon all had two goals, while Alyssa Woody, Tamara Holstrom and Gabby Orozco also scored for Citrus. Teghan Miller and Amelia Wolfe each dished out four assists in the dominating victory.

The Owls scored all 16 of their goals before the Corsairs could break through. Currie got the ball rolling with a goal less than 15 seconds into the contest, followed by a slew of seven Owl goals in the first quarter.

Holstrom kept things going with a goal a minute into the second frame and Leon capped another 7-0 output with a goal in the last minute of the period to put Citrus up 14-0.

Terry and Currie struck again in the third to all but seal the 16-1 victory for the Owls.

Citrus looks to build on the offensive onslaught, hosting LA Pierce Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
