Falcons suffer first loss of 2019

With a two-week hiatus from Big 8 Conference play, the Falcons traveled to Clovis on Tuesday afternoon for the first of four crossover matches with Central Valley Conference teams, but had a long ride home after a close 3-2 loss to Clovis.  The Falcons took an early lead on Ricky Miranda's goal in the 15th minute, but the Crush responded with the first of two goals by Andres Nuñez in the 23rd minute.  Nuñez struck again in the 38th minute to give Clovis a 2-1 lead that they would take into the halftime break.  In the second half,  Miranda tied up the contest when his penalty-kick goal beat Clovis keeper Robby Rosas in the 58th minute.  Ironically, Miranda had another chance to put Folsom Lake ahead in the 62nd minute, but his penalty shot went wide left.  The teams remained tied until Clovis' Jose Rivera netted the game winner in the 78th minute.

After suffering their first loss of 2019, the Falcons (8-1-5) will look to rebound on Friday night when they host College of the Sequoias (3-7-2 overall) at Falcon Stadium at 6:00 pm.
