SANTA MONICA – Only second half goals filled the box score in the SBCC men's soccer team's regular season finale trip to Santa Monica on Friday, but unfortunately for the Vaqueros, it went the Corsairs' way in a 2-1 defeat.

Adrian Gonzalez got the start at goalkeeper and did a phenomenal job with 10 saves, but wasn't able to keep Santa Monica (7-10-3 overall, 3-6-1 WSC) out in the 50th minute when Tom Rabinovitch opened the scoring.

Santa Barbara (12-5-3, 6-3-1) found an equalizer just 20 minutes later from the Western State Conference's leading goalscorer Bart Muns. The 6-foot-2 forward scored for the 17th time this year, passing Victor Chavez (16 goals, 2017) for the most of any Vaquero in over eight years.

Freshman midfielder Lukas Lovgren recorded his first assist of the year on Muns' goal.

However, it wouldn't take long for the Corsairs to regain the lead, as two minutes later, Sean McDonnell scored to put the home side up 2-1 for the eventual final score.

Following the conclusion of their regular season, the Vaqueros are scheduled for a road match at Golden West on Saturday, Nov. 20 in the first round of the CCCAA Playoffs. Kickoff will be at 2:00 p.m.
