No. 3 Las Positas wraps up undefeated non-conference schedule with win over Merced
The No. 3 state-ranked Las Positas College women's soccer team has outscored its opponents by a 42-1 margin so far this season but on Friday faced its toughest challenge. Looking to close out their non-conference schedule with a win, the Hawks narrowly defeated Merced College by a final score of 1-0.
Danielle Gettler picked the perfect time to score her first goal of the season. Her screamer of a shot from 30 yards out sailed past Merced goalkeeper Sarahi Lara and proved to be the difference in the contest.
LPC goalkeeper Dariana Mihalache and the Hawks' defense, led by Alyssa Sullivan, did their part to post the team's third straight shutout and seventh overall this season.
Las Positas takes an 8-0 record into its Coast Conference opener on Tuesday (Sept. 28) at Cañada College. Opening kick is set for 1:30 p.m.
