Vikings improve to 5-1 in the Coast with 8-1 win at Cabrillo

Sonya Hu, Brynn McKenzie, Abigail Prokter, Julia Ocher and Seraphina Vossen all had double-win days to lead the West Valley tennis team to a dominate 8-1 win over Cabrillo in Aptos Tuesday. The Vikings improved to 6-1, 5-1 in the Coast Conference, with the victory.

WVC led 3-0 after doubles. Mckenzie/Hu teamed up for a quick 8-1 win over Mariah Montanez/Bridget Baskerville in D2, while Vossen/Prokter took care of Madison James/Rheulyn Dimatulac 8-4 in D1. Natasha Sackx and Ocher defeated Hana Blaustein/Gabby Gilson 8-3 in D3 to close out doubles.

Prokter made quick work of Dimatulac in S2 with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking, and Ocher clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 in over Gilson in the S6 match. Vossen gave WVC a 6-0 advantage with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over James in S1, while, in S3, Hu bested Baskerville 6-2, 6-2. Cabrillo's Blaustein closed out the day with a hard-fought 7-6 (4), 6-2 S4 win over Sackx.

The Vikings host league leader Chabot (5-0, 5-0) Friday. Doubles begin at 2:00pm.
