COD Men's Tennis punishes Pirates to punch ticket to Ojai, 6-1
COD (17-1) continues to impress, as the Roadrunners moved on in their quest for a 17th CCCAA Men's Tennis State Championship, by sinking the Ventura Pirates (15-1) in the SoCal Finals, 6-1.

In doubles play, the 2's team of freshman Hernan Quiroz (Calexico Vincent Memorial Catholic) and sophomore Matthew Shaw (Baker (LA) Inner City Learning Center) survived their match 8-5. The 3's team of freshman Ian Rabtsevich (Minsk (BLR) Gymnasium 30) and freshman Nathan Caolie (San Juan Capistrano California Connections Academy) also fought a hard match, grabbing the win, 8-5. The 1's team of freshman Joseph Corse (Murrieta DeCourcey Christian Academy) and sophomore Eita Ishikawa (Yokkaichi (JPN) Technical) had to go extras and fell, 9-8.

In singles play, wins at the 4's – 5's – 3's secured the win in that order. Both the 3's and 6's finished at the same exact time, leading to a 6-1 win for the Roadrunners.

The next contest for the Roadrunners will be facing off with the winner of the NorCal Championship, the American River Beavers of Sacramento, at Libbey Park in Oaji for the CCCAA State Team Final on Wednesday, April 26.

College of the Desert defeated Ventura College, 6-1 in the CCCAA Southern California Regional Final at College of the Desert in Palm Desert.
