Chargers Fight Back From 2-0 Deficit, Tie Santa Ana 2-2

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress men's soccer team (8-6-4, 4-4-2 OEC) hosted Santa Ana College (8-4-6, 5-1-4 OEC) on Friday afternoon. The Chargers came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the Dons 2-2.

Julio Perez led the Chargers on the offensive end with one assist and one goal. Nomar Ibarra also contributed with a goal of his own, his fifth of the season and second in the last two games.

Cypress started slow as Santa Ana's, Marquise Mitchell, scored two goals in the first half of the match. The Chargers battled to make a comeback when Julio Perez fired a cannon outside the eighteen-yard box sending the ball into the back of the net cutting Santa Ana's lead in half, 2-1. As the Chargers built momentum, it was in the closing minutes of the game when Nomar Ibarra scored for Cypress off a deflection from Santa Ana's goalkeeper. Cypress continued to fight for the victory but the match resulted in a draw, 2-2.
