The West Valley baseball team rallied from a 6-4 deficit in the seventh inning to take a spirited 9-6 win over Chabot Thursday at Valhalla. The Vikings (11-13, 5-3 Coast-Golden Gate) pounded out 16 hits en route to their fourth straight win, giving them a total of 39, along with 27 runs, in the two-game set this week with the Gladiators (9-15, 4-4). WVC grabbed back the lead with three runs in the seventh on back-to-back singles from Nate Petrov and Steven Grizzle and an RBI double from Jared Reupert. They extended the 7-6 lead to 9-6 with two more in the eighth on a two-run single by Danny O'Reilly that scored Jonathan Teschner and Jake Pao, who both singled to open the inning. Mason Mooney K'd Jakob Simons for the first out of the ninth and then finished it by getting Manny Garcia to ground into a 6-4-3 double play. Mooney picked up the win in relief of starter Erik Peterson and reliever Christopher Knopf. Petrov finished the day 4-4, while Grizzle was 2-5 with two RBI. The Vikings travel to City College of San Francisco (7-16, 0-8) Saturday (3/23). First pitch is slated for noon.
