Women's Basketball Falls to West LA in Final Home Game

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College women's basketball team hosted West LA College at the Gil Bishop Sports Center in  their final home Western State Conference game of the regular season and came away with a 53-45 loss.

Prior to the game, five Renegade sophomores were honored for their final home appearance. The sophomores included: #3 Jasmyn Rodriguez (G, Bakersfield, CA),#14 Tyana Jasper (G, Bakersfield, CA), #21 Victoria Trevino (F, Bakersfield, CA), #24 Brianna Mendez (F, Bakersfield, CA) and #30 Aubrey Stone (F, Bakersfield, CA).

West LA opened the game on a 10-0 run before the Renegades converted their first basket, but BC came back to bring the game to within four points by the half at 22-18.

BC opened the third quarter by taking a one-point lead, 26-25, with 8:28 to go after Rodriguez converted a breakaway lay-up. The lead would exchange hands several times the rest of the game before West LA would find themselves up five with under a minute to play. The Wildcats withstood the Renegades final attack and took home the victory.

Mendez led the Renegades in scoring with 11 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. Rodriguez added ten points and Dasia Wandick had nine points and 14 rebounds.  

With the loss, the Renegades drop to 8-16 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

Their last game of the season will be on the road at Santa Monica on Friday, (2/22) at 7pm.
