In their South Coast Conference game against visiting Rio Hondo College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College women's water polo team scored the first 16 goals on their way to a 19-2 win. The win by the Falcons (8-3, 3-0) was their third in a row, and the team will host Chaffey College at 3:00 p.m. next Wednesday in another conference match.

Not only did the offense convert on almost every possession through the first three quarters, the defense also did a solid job of limiting the Roadrunners (3-9, 1-2) in their many scoring chances. Cerritos recorded 13 steals, while freshman goalie April Nuno (Cerritos HS) did a fine job in net and turned away seven shots.

Nine different players scored for the Falcons, with the trio of Carolina Medrano (Schurr HS), Marisela Olivas (Schurr HS) and Gabby Arenas (Montebello HS) each picking up two first half goals. The final goal output saw Medrano led the way with four goals, while Olivas and Amy Cervantes (Montebello HS/East Los Angeles College) each accounting for three goals apiece. Cerritos was affective with their shooting, as they converted 19 of their 26 shot attempts.

Arenas, Mia Carbajal (Schurr HS) and Myrka Abad (Downey HS) each posted two goals, with Mayra Olivas (Montebello HS) dishing out a team-high three assists. Along with her seven stops, Nuno also assisted on a goal, and was joined by 12 of the 14 players who had at least one helper.
