Elite 8 Playoff Preview - CCSF VS Allan Hancock

The City College of San Francisco men’s basketball team is three more wins away from capturing their second state title in three years.

The Rams enter this weekend’s California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship Tournament after thoroughly dominating their first two playoff opponents, defeating West Hills Coalinga 84-63 on February 24 and Cabrillo College 77-60 on March 3. The Rams received amazing offensive contributions from sophomore guards Eddie Stansberry and Terrell Brown. Stansberry shot 5-of-9 from three-point range against West Hills and Brown scored a team-leading 19 points against Cabrillo.

CCSF, the No.1 ranked team in the state, are currently 30-1 on the season and are riding an amazing 26-game winning streak. Their offense averages 91.7 points per game while their defense allows 64.4 opponent points per game. Both marks place the Rams No.3 in the state in both categories. CCSF is also one of the top three-point shooting teams in the state, averaging close to 40 percent (38.5) from beyond the arc, ranking them No.8 in the state.

The Rams’ Elite 8 opponent will be No.4 Allan Hancock Bulldogs (23-9 overall), who are coming off a thrilling 91-90 win over San Bernardino Valley College. The Bulldogs averaged 76.5 points, allow 71.4 points per game, and are currently riding a three-game winning streak. Friday’s night’s game will be a match-up between the Rams’ high-octane offense versus the Bulldogs’ defense.
