SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Facing Glendale in Friday's WSC Crossover match at SBCC's Sports Pavilion, the Vaquero women's volleyball team earned its third consecutive sweep, 25-15, 25-14, 25-18.

The Vaqueros' hot start to the year now has them at 9-2, tied for their second-best start through 11 matches since at least 2014.

"Everyone played in a nice team win tonight," said head coach Kat Niksto. "Setter Sophie Ward led the team in assists with 19 and spread the ball around the offense well. Caroline McCarty and Bella Johnson both had stand out nights from the right side, while Jordyn Anderson – who led the team with 12 digs – anchored the defensive effort."

McCarty's 12 kills put her into double-digits for a team-leading fifth time this year. No other Vaquero has reached double-figures more than twice. She also went for a season-best .458 hitting percentage.

As a team, SBCC had its most efficient hitting night of the year, posting an outstanding .337 clip. Bella Johnson's nine kills were good for her third-highest total of the year, while her .533 hitting percentage was her second-best.

Jordyn Brenna Valenzuela also joined Ward atop the assist column with a personal-best mark of 13.

Next Wednesday, Sept. 22, SBCC travels to face Citrus for a 6:00 p.m. match.
