Oroville, Calif. - The No. 14 Butte softball team dropped a pair of contests to No. 6 Sierra, 5-1 and 9-6, on Thursday afternoon.
The Roadrunners struck first in game one behind freshman Diana Hull's RBI single to score sophomore Grace Stearns. But despite four more hits, including a double by freshman Moriah Hoshowski, the team was unable to get back on the board.
Sophomore Maggie Smith (1-1) was charged with the loss after tossing six complete innings with three strikeouts. Sophomore Kiya Hamar completed the game with a scoreless inning with a strikeout.
In game two, freshman Kylee Richhart led the Roadrunners at the plate with a 2-for-3 outing with a double, run, and RBI. Freshman Avery Jolley went 1-for-3 with a run and a pair of RBI.
In the circle, Jolley (0-1) went three complete with Hamar tossing the remaining innings, scattering four hits and striking out a pair.
Butte (1-3) remains home, hosting No. 16 Cosumnes River next on Saturday, Feb. 4 in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
