Bobcats turn the tables on Chargers

The Saddleback women's soccer team picked up a big win on Friday with a 2-0 victory over Cypress College inside the stadium.  The Bobcats improved to 7-1-1 with the win.

Saddleback was looking for revenge on Friday after falling to Cypress College last season in the regional finals.  The Bobcats got their wish, beating the top-ranked Chargers at their own game while putting themselves in a tie for first place in the Orange Empire Conference.

Saddleback and Cypress went to the locker rooms at half tied 0-0 despite the Chargers outshooting the Bobcats 10-4.  Saddleback turned the tables on Cypress in the second half, controlling play and finding the back of the net a couple of times in the process.

Saddleback opened the scoring in the 51st minute when Kylie Beu (pictured) took a ball that bounced off a defender on a pass from Averee Campos and beat Cypress keeper Siriana Gudino for her third goal of the season.  It seemed to ignite the Bobcats offense, which proceeded to push the tempo for the next 20 minutes of play.

Saddleback took a 2-0 lead when Chloe Green fed Alexa Livingstone with a perfect pass and she beat Gudino in the 73rd minute for a commanding lead.  It was the third goal of the season for Livingstone and seemed to turn up the heat on what was already a physical matchup between the two rivals.

Both teams picked up two yellow cards in the game and the Cypress bench picked up a third in the final minutes.  In addition to the five yellow cards, 11 fouls were called throughout the game.

Cypress finished with a 15-8 advantage in total shots but Saddleback held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.    Jamie-Lynne Clark played the entire game in goal for the Bobcats in improving to 7-1-1 on the season.

Saddleback will play again on Tuesday when they travel to Santa Ana for a 3:00 PM game.  The Bobcats will return home next Friday to host Fullerton College at 3:00 PM inside the stadium.
