Wolverines Run Away With Opening Round Victory

The San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team ran out to an early advantage and then kept their foot on the gas as they beat LA Harbor College 86-51 Friday night in the opening game of the Alvin Hunter Classic at SBVC.

The Wolverines spread the scoring around throughout the game, as three players ended in double figures, with another three players ending the game with eight points apiece. Brandon Betson led the way with 16 points (including going 4-for-4 from 3-point range) along with seven assists, while Jordan Jones had 13 points off the bench, and Cartrell Thompson added 12 from the bench as well.

SBVC used its height advantage from the opening tip against LA Harbor, which was making its season debut. The Wolverines outrebounded the Seahawks 41-21, with Cameron Butler pulling down 12 to lead the way for SBVC.

LA Harbor's Terence Clayton led all scorers with 17 points.

SBVC will take on Antelope Valley College in the semifinals of the tournament at 6 p.m. Saturday.
