No. 13 Santa Ana Edged 3-0 in Battle with No. 2 Cypress

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Nicole Yniguez was almost untouchable through six innings as the No. 13 Santa Ana Dons battled with the No. 2 ranked Cypress Chargers in Monday's Orange Empire Conference contest.

Yniguez faced off against one of the best arms in the conference as Janea Brannen got the start for the Chargers. Both pitchers rank in the top three in the OEC in ERA, strikeouts and wins, giving both teams a chance to win.

Ynigues threw a scoreless six innings with three strikeouts before the Chargers used a two out rally in the top of the seventh to score three runs to take the lead.

Although the Dons had some hard hit balls throughout the game, they failed to get on the scoreboard, resulting in 3-0 loss for SAC and another win for Brannen.

Santa Ana finished with just two hits with Drea DeFord's single in the second and Karlee Rivera's double in the sixth.

The Dons fall to 16-8, 6-5 while the Chargers climb to 23-2, 12-0 overall.
