NO.1 UMPQUA ROLLS PAST SHASTA COLLEGE 84-48

ROSEBURG, Ore. – The Shasta College women's basketball team dropped a 84-48 nonconference road game to No. 1 Umpqua Community College on Tuesday.

The Knights turned in their lowest scoring total of the season against the top-ranked team from the Northwest Athletic Conference, which consists of the 36 community colleges in Oregon, Washington and Idaho and British Columbia.

Shasta was outscored 26-11 in the opening quarter ad trailed 41-24 at halftime. Sophomore Keeley Tuggle scored a team-best 13 points on 5 of 12 shooting, including three 3-pointers, and freshman Terra Crawford scored 12 points off the bench. Sophomore Mari Fernandez led the Knights with five rebounds to go with seven points and sophomore Jordan Martinez had a team-best five assists.

Taylor Stricklin scored 24 points to lead Umpqua.

The Knights host their annual Shasta College Invitational Thursday through Saturday, opening up against Mendocino on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
