Baseball Falls to Golden West in Game Two of the Series

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College Baseball Team hosted Golden West College in a game that started on Friday afternoon and finished on Saturday, due to weather. BC ended up losing the second game of the series, 5-3.

On Friday, the Rustlers jumped out early to a 4-0 lead in the top of the second with the help of a BC fielding error that allowed two runs to score on one play. The game was then suspended at the end of the third, due to continue the next morning, after rain started to come down.

The next day, Sage Voda put BC on the board in the bottom of the fifth by scoring from second on an errant pick-off attempt to first by the Golden West pitcher. In the bottom of the eighth, Landn Kauk scored Voda and Ashanti Ross on a single up the middle to center field.

In the top of the ninth, Golden West scored an additional run after third baseman Matt Patton was unable to handle a routine grounder, and went up 5-3.

Lane Cowan got the start and loss at pitcher for BC. He pitched through the first three innings with one strikeout before the game was suspended. Frankie Villasenor started out at the top of the fourth the next day and went five innings with two strikeouts and no runs scored before being relieved by John Bell who finished out the game.

With the loss, BC drops to 7-6 overall.

The series concludes with this afternoon's game against the Rustlers.
