Hawks Fall at Home

Sacramento, Calif. The Hawks hosted the Hartnell Panthers Tuesday in a battle of two playoff hopefuls. Things did not go the way the Hawks wanted as they came out with a 1-3 loss.

The Lady Hawks were off to a slow start as they went down early to Hartnell, when they scored in the 7th minute of the match. The goal came on a great solo run by a Hartnell midfielder who put a rocket in the back of the Hawks net. Hawks did not give up as they continued to create chances on goal. The breakthrough came in the 36th minute, as red hot freshman Nariyah O'Brien scored her 3rd goal of the season. A great team effort saw O'Brien get played in by sophomore Ashley Blake and O'Brien hit a magnificent shot from 30 yards out. The tie didn't last long as Hartnell took the lead again in the 44th minute just before the half. The Hawks battled all 2nd half creating chances, but unfortunately the ball would not end up in the back of the net. Late in the 2nd half as the Hawks pushed numbers forward in an effort to tie the match Hartnell put a 3rd goal on the board.

The Hawks look to bounce back Thursday as they host Los Medanos College under the lights.  The game will be at 7pm in the Hawks Stadium.
