SBCC took an early 1-0 lead on Friday night, then watched Clovis hit the net twice to pull out a 2-1 victory in a women's soccer match at La Playa Stadium.

The loss snaps the Vaqueros' 24-game home win streak. Santa Barbara is 1-3 and the Crush improved to 2-3-1.

Sean O'Brien, a freshman forward from San Francisco, scored in the seventh minute of her Vaquero debut. Savannah Mohatt fed her a through ball and O'Brien beat the keeper, who had come out to challenge her.

Clovis tied it 1-1 in the last minute of the first half when Irene Zamora lobbed a 35-yarder over the head of keeper Savannah Ayers. Zamora set up the game-winning tally with a short pass to a streaking Karyme Hernandez at 67:12. Hernandez got a solid strike from close range and the ball deflected in off the goalie.

"We played well in the first half and should have gone in with the lead," said 15th-year head coach John Sisterson. "We made a defensive error and didn't pick a ball up.

"In the second half, we were creating chances, we just couldn't find the back of the net."

The Vaqueros outshot the Crush 19-11 and both teams had six shots on-goal. Nine of those shots came in the second half but only two were on-target.

Santa Barbara had a couple of solid scoring chances in the late stages but shots by O'Brien and Madison Mitchell both sailed high in the 73rd and 88th minutes.

"One thing we said to them was 'Accuracy before power,' " said Sisterson. "You have to be hitting the target and testing the keeper and we didn't do that enough tonight."

The Vaqueros will host Chaffey on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
