Oxnard Softball hosted the Glendale College Vaqueros in their 2020 home opener on a chilly Tuesday afternoon.

It wasn't cold for long as OC began lighting up the scoreboard in the third inning.  Sophomore standout Charlie Holman singled to drive in fellow sophomore Miranda Guerrero, scoring the first run of the game.  Slugger Victoria Valadez followed with a solid double to the gap, driving in Holman.  Brianna Lopez had a double of her own to drive in Valadez in the fifth, with with Mia Garcia scoring.  Kimberly Santoyo singled in two runs in the fifth and Katlyn Acosta did the same in the seventh.  The capper was Valadez' third homer of the young season to end the game 10-0.

Kayla Kern pitched a complete game shutout, going six innings, while giving up only four hits.  Kern struck out two Vaqueros on her way to her fourth win.

"We played flawless softball today.  It was great that everyone participated in getting this home-opening with for us, especially with so many fans in the stands," said head coach Erin Lawley.

Oxnard is now 4-2 on the season, with their next contest at LA Mission on February 6th at 2:30.
