The script was going as planned for the West Valley women's soccer team as the Vikings dominated Fresno City in the first 20 minutes in Tuesday's 2021 home opener. WVC's Iliana Jasso hit Kayla Potter with a feed on the right side of the pitch that Potter unleashed just inside the box to give the Vikings a 1-0 16 minutes in. The WVC lead would hold until FCC's Mariah Contreras connected on the equalizer off an Alex Guillen helper just before the first half whistle.

The Rams took control after the break, scoring three unanswered goals to win their first game of the season. Guillen (Emma Martello assist) connected at 52' and Jacky Vasquez found the back of the net at 76" (Ursula Anguino) and 88' (Melanie Davila) to seal the victory.

The Vikings (1-2-1) host Lake Tahoe (1-1-0) Friday, Sept. 10 at 4pm at Dick Schwendinger Field.
