For the fourth time this season, Cerritos College sophomore men's soccer midfielder Armando Ibarra, Jr. (Downey HS) scored a pair of goals. On Tuesday, he provided both of the Falcons goals in their 2-1 South Coast Conference opener against host East Los Angeles College. Cerritos (7-2-1, 1-0-0) will travel to Compton College on Friday for a 2:00 p.m. conference game.

"Armando Ibarra continues to carry the team and Arnold was very good, as well," stated head coach Benny Artiaga. "I'm very happy with our performance today. It was a very good game from our guys. We continue to build and are getting better every game. They're starting to find an identity and chemistry that was lacking earlier in the season."

Ibarra, Jr., who has 10 goals in nine games this season, tied the game at 1-1 with his late first half goal. Teaming with freshman Arnold Castillo (Bell Gardens HS) on both goals, Ibarra, Jr. took the game into his hands and put the Falcons in the lead for good with his second goal of the game in the 56th minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Alex Ledesma (Bellflower HS) won his second straight start and posted one save in the win.
