SOFTBALL: GETTING PAST THE DONS

In an Orange Empire Conference game, the FC softball team earned a 2-1 win over Santa Ana College at home Tuesday.

The Hornet's victory bumps them up in the Orange Empire Conference with a record of 2-1 (third place) with an overall record of 10-2. The loss puts Santa Ana at 2-2 in the OEC with an overall record of 10-5.

The Dons drew first blood scoring a run in the top of the second when Stephanie Rojas hit a deep SAC Fly to center field giving Jeana Gonzalez the chance to score from third.

Fullerton tied the game up 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth on Lulu Vasquez's hard-hit double that brought Sabrina Anguiano across home plate.

FC brought the winning run across in the fifth when Veronica Garza singled in Sara Rengifo from third base.

Vasquez proved to be too much for the Dons going 7 strong innings with 1 runs against on 3 hits. She had 4 strikeouts and 4 walks earning her 9th win of the season.

Up Next: The Hornets (10-2 overall, 3-1 OEC) will play again on Friday, March 8th at home against Orange Coast College (11-1 overall, 4-1 OEC). The first pitch goes out at 2:00 pm.
