COD Women’s Volleyball finally opens the 2021 season, gets past the Comets, 3-1

COD (1-0) welcomed in the 2021 season at home with a four-set victory over their former Conference foe, the Palomar Comets (2-1), 3-1 (25-23, 25-13, 15-25, 25-14).

Freshman setter Kianna Diaz (Palm Desert H.S.) led the team with 36 set assists, grabbing 2 service aces and 13 digs and freshman opposite Lila Cowdell (Herriman, UT) grabbed 2 service aces.

College of the Desert a 4-9 all-time record against the Comets, but the Roadrunners have won 3 of the last 4 contests between these two teams.

Freshman outside hitter Yesenia Ramirez (Indio Shadow Hills H.S.) led the team with 17 kills and freshman middle blocker Caitlin Bilhartz (Bowling Green, MO) led the team with 2 solo blocks.

Freshman outside hitter Kaila Sandy (La Quinta H.S.) had 12 kills, 2 service aces and 19 digs and sophomore libero Dakota Hansen (Myrtle Beach, SC) led the team with 26 digs and grabbed 2 service aces.

The next game for Desert is at home, where they will play the Imperial Valley Arabs on September 4th at 4 p.m.
