SAN MARCOS, CA (9/22/2021) -- Women's water polo broke in the newly renovated pool in winning fashion defeating the Southwestern College Jaguars 16-8 to improve to 3-0 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play.

After a slow start to the match, the Comets kicked into gear showing off their skills resulting in an eight-goal third quarter. Freshman Jamie DeSorbo (Escondido) had three goals, including a behind-the-back shot in the quarter.

Freshman Brynna Bryant (San Pasqual) lead the Comets in goals scored with five. Sophomore standout Sydni Dickson (El Camino) had four as did DeSorbo. Freshman goalkeeper Sophia O'Loughlin (Classical Academy) had seven saves on 15 shots.

The Comets have taken down fellow PCAC opponents San Diego Miramar College and San Diego Mesa College 17-7 and 13-6, respectively. They have played in two tournaments so far this season with a 1-3 record playing against top-ranked teams like Ventura College, Citrus College and Orange Coast College.

The women are now 4-3 overall and will play in the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational Sept. 24-25. Opponents include Santa Monica College and West Valley College.
