Bobcats clinch second place

The Saddleback women's tennis team clinched second place in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) with a 7-2 victory at Riverside City College on Tuesday in Riverside.  The Bobcats dominated doubles play in cruising to the win.

Saddleback is now 8-2 overall for the season after the win over Riverside.  The Bobcats will finish second in the OEC, which is the best finish in 12 years.

Saddleback jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles play.  Emily West and Kavelle Tomaiko continued their season-long dominance at No. 3 doubles with an 8-2 win for the first point of the match.  The Bobcats picked up two more points when Brooke Buser and Ellie Maruna won at No. 2 doubles (8-4) and Sydney Grove teamed with Ainsley Beresford for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.

Grove (pictured), Beresford and Buser would all pick up wins in singles matches as well, becoming two-time winners for the day.  Dorothea Amadin also picked up a win at No. 3 singles with a dominating win (6-1, 6-1).

Saddleback will now wait for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional Playoff pairings to be announced.  If the Bobcats make the playoffs, they would play on Tuesday in the regional quarterfinals.
