Bobcats zap the Hornets for another win

The Saddleback women's tennis team improved to 2-2 on the season with an 8-1 victory over Fullerton College on Thursday at the Saddleback Tennis Complex.  It was the first win for the program in the new complex that opened a year ago.

Saddleback hasn't had a lot of opportunities to win in the new complex as the 2021 season was interrupted by COVID-19.  The Bobcats won in grand style on Thursday, beating the Hornets 8-1.

Saddleback took advantage of a few forfeits as Fullerton had to forfeit two singles matches and one doubles match.  The Bobcats jumped on the opportunity, closing out the Hornets very early into the singles portion of the competition.

Saddleback opened with a win at No. 1 doubles when Raya Johnson and Vanessa Gee score an 8-1 victory over Emma Wagner and Shay Gil.  Johnson and Gee (pictured) would then win for a second time in singles as Johnson defeated Gil 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and Gee defeated Wagner 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.

Saddleback ended up sweeping all four singles matches that were played.  Kavelle Tomaiko was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at No. 3 singles over Samantha Trujillo while Emily West defeated Jamie Hunt 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
