Women's tennis team starts season with big win over Hope

Irvine Valley's women's tennis team started its 2020 campaign with a solid 6-3 win over four-year Hope International University at home on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lasers, who finished second in the Orange Empire Conference and reached the second round of the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs last season, won two matches in doubles and four in singles in the victory over Hope.

Sophomores Sabrina Mendy and Ashley Le combined to win, 8-5, at the No. 1 doubles spot and the freshman duo of Soleil Zsibrita and Nicole Harper came out on top, 8-3, in IVC's other doubles victory.

In singles, Irvine Valley earned victories from Mendy (6-3, 6-7, 1-0), Zsibrita (6-1, 6-2), Harper (6-1, 6-3) and sophomore Ariyana Ash (0-6, 7-6, 1-0).

Irvine Valley is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to El Camino for a 2 p.m. nonconference match.
