SOFTBALL: FULLERTON MERCIES SADDLEBACK

The Hornets hosted Saddleback College in an Orange Empire Conference game on Monday and mercied the Gauchos 9-1.

FC scored their first run in the first inning when Sabrina Anguiano hit a stand-up triple off the center field wall. Elexa Rangel then grounded out to second base giving Anguiano the chance to cross home plate.

The Gauchos evened the score in the third on a double by Mckenna Walton that brought in Rylee Argue.

The Hornets went up 3-1 in the third inning on a hard-hit liner to left field by Nia Rodman that scored Kaylee Williamson, and Eryka Springer hit one through the left side for a single scoring Desiree Guzman (ran for Rodman).

In the fifth inning FC broke it open scoring 6 runs to win it. Garza scored on a wild pitch from third. With two on base, Alyssa Dilay came in as a pinch hitter and it paid off as she blooped one into right field scoring Rodman. An error scored Moreena Ramirez and Kindy Favata knocked one through the right side scoring Dilay. The dagger came when Williamson rocketed a shot to left scoring Garza enforcing the mercy rule.

Up Next: Fullerton (9-10 overall, 4-5 OEC) will play another conference game at home on Tuesday, March 20th against Santa Ana College. The first pitch goes out at 3:00 pm.
