Gauchos break out brooms against Falcons
The Saddleback women's volleyball team raced past Cerritos College, 3-0, on Friday night inside the Saddleback Gymnasium. The Gauchos are 2-0 for the first time since 2015 when they started the season 3-0.
Saddleback started slowly but found their stride midway through the opening game. The Gauchos would make a big run in finishing off the Falcons, 25-19, for a 1-0 lead.
The same story played out in game two when Cerritos jumped out to a 5-2 advantage. The Gauchos would score the next six points in racing to a 25-18 win in game two.
Game three was never in question as Saddleback wrestled early control in cruising to a 25-14 win.
Ireland Ridill was a force up front for Saddleback, finishing with a team-high 14 kills in 22 attempts. Ronnie Robinson had yet another strong performance, finishing with 19 kills, four digs and three service aces. Ellie Groh finished with a team-high 34 assists, giving her 71 in two matches so far for the season.
Saddleback is now 2-0 and will head to Santa Ana College on Wednesday to participate in the Santa Ana Quad. The Gauchos will play Victor Valley in their opening match of the day at 4:00 PM before facing Cerro Coso College at 6:00 PM.
