Error dooms Falcons in season opener at Butte

The Folsom Lake softball team opened their 2022 season on Saturday with a doubleheader at Butte College in Oroville, but came home without a win after falling to the Roadrunners 2-0 and 6-1.

Falcon pitcher Adriana Gonzalez went toe-to-toe with Butte's Savannah Wahl for 5 innings, shutting down the Roadrunners on just one hit up to that point.  But in the bottom of the sixth,  a fielding error and a single put Roadrunners at first and second, then an error on a single to right field allowed both runners to score with the only runs of the game. 

The Falcon offense was stymied by Wahl, with sophomore Hannah Dominguez recording the only Falcon hit ofthe game in the third inning.

-Game 2 -

The Falcons wasted little time getting on the board in the second game when they took advantage of a Butte error and an RBI single by Lillyanna Alvarez.  The Roadrunners then tied the score with a sacrifice fly to center field in the bottom of the second.  After that, the pitching and defense took over as neither team would score until the sixth inning.  In the sixth, the Roadrunners put together 6 singles to plate four runs and put the game away.
