The San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team has been a tight group all season - each player ready to step up and step in to support their teammates when necessary.

Thursday evening, the Wolverines continued to do that, but they were in a postition where they had to, as foul troubles played havoc with the team's starting rotation, and ended up playing a role in SBVC's 91-76 loss to City College of San Francisco in the California Community College Athletic Association quarterfinals.

SBVC had three players foul out, and had two more players end the game with four fouls, forcing the team to change its strategy. The team's leading scorer, Dominque Daniels, picked up his third foul with 1:47 to go in the first half, then was whistled for his fourth just 2:21 into the second half, sending him to the bench for a long stretch.

The Wolverines led 12-9 six minutes into the game, but San Francisco changed out its entire lineup and went on a 17-5 run over the next six minutes to take control of the game. SBVC rallied to keep it close, but could not close on the Rams the rest of the way.

Daniels, the state's leading scorer, once again led all scorers in the game, finishing with 27 points - including going 13-of-15 from the free throw line. Armon Muldrew closed out his SBVC career with 16 points - going 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Sebastian Mendoza finished with 14 points.

San Francisco, which will play Citrus College in the semifinals, had five players finish in double figures, led by Jamir Thomas' 15 points off the bench.
