GROSSMONT VOLLEYBALL FINISHES TOP 4 IN THE STATE

Grossmont women's volleyball finishes top four in the state after a furious rally in the semifinal against Feather River College.

The CCCAA Women's Volleyball State Championship tournament featured exciting matches December 6-8, 2019 at Southwestern College. Saturday, December 7th's first semifinal was no different as South #2 Grossmont returned a 0-2 set deficit to North #1 seed Feather River College to hang on through all five sets. Feather River ultimately grabbed the win against Grossmont (25-18, 28-26, 22-25, 22-25, 15-11) to move forward in the tournament and capture the state title against Irvine Valley Sunday, December 8.

#4 Haley Morton tops the charts with 51 assists in the match against Feather River. Morton's highest average assist per game is 51.4, and totaled 1095 this season. Likewise, #11 Shaney Lipscomb had a career high against Feather River in kills with 23-12-52 (K-E-TA).

#1 libero Kourtney Hitt also reached her record high in digs (19) against Feather River. Middle hitter #5 Brooklyn Anderson totaled 5 blocks in Saturday's semfinal.

Grossmont finshed 14-2 in the Pacific Coast Conference (.875%) and reclaimed the conference title since 2017 (eight year consecutive run from 2010, broken by SD Mesa in 2018). Likewise conference rival SD Mesa finished conference 14-2 and also share the championship this fall.
