Lower Lineup Leads Tigers Past El Camino

The Riverside City College women's tennis team took a brief hiatus from conference action to face off against the El Camino College Warriors on the road. The Tigers remained undefeated in non-conference play by edging out the Warriors, 5-4, highlighted by strong play from the bottom of the lineup.

The Tigers leaned heavily on their fourth, fifth and sixth singles players to haul in their seventh non-conference victory of the season. Freshman Hannah Stevenson was responsible for two wins with a 6-0, 6-1 singles victory following an 8-0 doubles victory with sophomore teammate Emilia Lopez.

Freshman Yasmin Johnson, who has been on a tear the past couple of matches, hauled in another singles victory at the fifth position with her scores reading 6-0, 6-0. She teamed up with sophomore Heather Graf for the number two doubles squad and earned an 8-2 win.  Freshman Monica Madrid followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the sixth position.

Riverside (12-2, 6-2 OEC) will return to conference action at home on Tuesday, March 26 at 2 p.m. against the Fullerton College Hornets.
