The West Valley softball team picked up its first Coast Conference win of the young season with an 8-0 five-inning whitewash of visiting Gavilan Thursday. Every Viking in the lineup picked up at least one hit, with Carinne Peterson delivering the big blast in the bottom of the second. After singles by Mya Galindo, Sierra Hillman and Chancee Gaskin loaded the bases, Peterson cleared the bases with a double to center. Peterson finished the date 2-3 with three RBI. Ava Gonzales went the distance to pick up the win in the circle. The Vikings (7-7, 1-3 Coast-South) head to Fresno City Friday (3/15) for a 3pm game against the Rams (8-8) and Saturday (3/16) for an 11am tilt against Butte (4-8).
