Serving as one of the hosts for the Battle at the Beach Tournament, the Cerritos College women's water polo team posted one of the bigger wins in program history on the first day. The Falcons opened the round robin tournament with a 9-6 win over Riverside City College, snapping a 16-match losing streak that dated back to 2008 when Cerritos defeated the Tigers, 12-11 in the semifinals of the state semifinals. The Falcons went on to win their lone CCCAA state championship that season. They followed that win with a 14-7 decision over Southwestern College, while they returned on Saturday and faced another Southern California powerhouse Fullerton College, which turned out to be a 10-7 loss. The day ended with the Falcons dropping a tight 15-14 decision to Ventura College. It was the second one-goal nail-biter against the Pirates this season, as Cerritos came away with a 16-15 double overtime win in their first meeting.

Cerritos vs. Riverside City: The Falcons immediately came out to make an impact statement and did just that, as they shut out the Tigers in the first quarter and took a 4-0 lead. Two of the goals were during a power play, with All-American Mia Carbajal (Schurr HS) scoring the first, while freshman Angelina Romero (Schurr HS) accounted for the second, which was also her second goal of the period. Cerritos opened the second period that same as they first, as they scored the first two goals on power play opportunities, as freshman Keyla Santos (Schurr HS) scored the first, with Carbajal making a 6-0 lead on her goal with 7:00 left in the first half. Riverside City did come back and score the next four goals of the period, but the Falcon defense came out in the second half and posted another shutout in the third quarter. Freshman Miranda Alvarez (Schurr HS) scored the lone goal of the period, with Romero providing the offense in the fourth quarter with a pair of goals, as Cerritos held on for the win. Romero (four goals), Carbajal (two goals, five steals) and Alvarez (two goals, two assists) provided the offense, while the defense turned in 18 steals, with freshman goalkeeper Leslie Meza (California HS) coming up with a pair to go along with her four saves.

Cerritos vs. Southwestern: After such an emotional win, the Falcons turned to their bench to start the game against the Jaguars and they responded. Taking a 6-1 lead after the first quarter and a 12-2 advantage at halftime, freshman Kimberly Vasquez (Downey HS) scored a pair of man-advantage goals in the first quarter, and had three tallies by halftime, with sophomore Gabriella Arenas (Montebello HS) producing a pair of second quarter goals. Vasquez and Arenas led the team with four goals each, with six other players scoring once. Freshman Samantha Wisher (La Serna HS) directed the offense and turned in five assists and added a pair of steals, while freshman Kaya Glynn (Cerritos HS) and Carbajal checked in with three steals each. Sophomore goalkeeper Haili Snook (Downey HS) improved her season record to 7-1 after playing the final three quarters and made 11 saves.

Cerritos vs. Fullerton: Looking to size up their skillset against the Hornets, the Falcons played them even for the majority of the game. Although Cerritos never led in the game, they were able to battle back to stay close, even after Fullerton's Neida Torres scored three consecutive goals in the second quarter to put the Hornets up, 5-2. Torres, who scored six of the first seven Fullerton goals, was countered by Alvarez, Romero and Carbajal, who kept the team within striking distance. After a Carbajal goal with 4:41 left in the fourth quarter to make it a 9-7 game, the Falcons were kept off the board the rest of the way, as they converted just seven of their 24 shots in the game. The defense did come up with 17 steals, with Carbajal and Wisher each posting four to lead the team, while Meza turned away six shots in goal.

Cerritos vs. Ventura: A thrilling game capped off the tournament for the Falcons, who ran out time in their quest to come back from a late deficit. Trailing 15-11 with 4:27 left in the fourth quarter, Cerritos made the game interesting with three consecutive goals to draw to within a goal. Romero scored twice, while a power play goal from Alvarez with 1:26 remaining got them within a goal, but could not get that tying goal to find the net. The trio of Carbajal, Alvarez and Romero each scored four times, while Santos assisted on five goals in the loss. As a team, Cerritos committed 16 turnovers, but the defense recorded 23 steals, with Santos coming away with five, while Carbajal and Alvarez each posting four and Meza was joined by sophomore Melodie Carbajal (El Rancho HS/Fullerton College) with three apiece. Meza also turned away five shots.
