Comets battle with Jags in five sets

CHULA VISTA, CA (10/12/2022) -- In the final week of the first round of conference play, Palomar traveled to Southwestern College and battled through five sets for a 3-2 win.

After dropping the first set 25-12, the Comets dug in and bounced back in set two to take the set (26-24) and the third set (25-15). The Jaguars took set four (25-21) to force the fifth set, which the Comets won 16-14.

Freshman Holland Hancock just keeps dominating across the court for the Comets. She finished the night with 11 kills and 26 digs. Hope Ihem finished with eight kills and three blocks. Bailey Prieto finished with 17 digs and three aces. 

The Comets move to 8-5 overall and are 4-3 in conference play. They are tied with San Diego City for fourth place. Palomar will head to MiraCosta on Friday for a 6 p.m. first serve.
