WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: FINAL PUSH AGAINST IRVINE VALLEY

The Lady Hornets wrapped up the regular season at No. 4 Irvine Valley College on Friday night and lost 64-49.

Even with the defeat, Fullerton remains in the 3rd place spot in the Orange Empire Conference standings with a record of 9-5 (tied with Riverside). Sporting an overall record of 17-11, the Hornets are in the hunt for a playoff spot. Meanwhile, the Irvine Valley victory locks up the OEC title with an undefeated record of 14-0. IVC's overall record stands at 26-2.

The Hornets fought hard in the first half giving IVC all it could handle. They stunned the Lasers in the second quarter taking a 29-25 lead on a jumper by Shenise West. By halftime, Fullerton owned a 33-27 lead.

The third quarter was a battle with both teams exchanging blows, but by the 3:08 mark the Lasers made their move going on a 10-3 run to wrap up the quarter with a 46-38 edge.

It did not get an easier for Fullerton in the fourth quarter as Irvine Valley pressed ahead taking its largest lead of the game of 15 to seal it.

Moriah Serrano and Celise Moreno both put up 10 points each. Angela Zendejas had 9 points and Janelle Ramos had 6.
