Vikings race to 5-0 lead, but fall at Foothill in Coast Crossover

The West Valley softball team jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third, but was unable to contain Foothill from there in a 14-7 loss to the Owls Tuesday in Los Altos. The Vikings (8-9, 1-4 Coast-South) scored two in the first and three in the third thanks to three bases-loaded walks and RBI singles from Megumi Pennebaker and Mya Galindo. The Owls (22-3, 3-1 Coast-North) then knocked out 14 runs on 16 hits to take the Coast Crossover win. Pennebaker finished the day 1-3 with two RBI, while Chancee Gaskin went 2-4. Alexis Palmon took the loss in the circle. The Vikings host Cabrillo (12-7, 2-2 Coast-South) Wednesday (3/20) at 3:30pm.
