Looking to upset five-time defending CCCAA state champion Golden West College, the Cerritos College men's water polo team saw their season come to an end after a 23-9 loss on Friday. The Falcons (22-14) were seeded #8 for the Southern California Regional Playoffs and were unable to keep up with the #1-seeded Rustlers (23-3).

The game was tied 4-4 after the first period, as sophomore All-American Dominic Hernandez (Schurr HS) accounted for three of the team's goals. However, four straight goals to start the second quarter allowed Golden West to start pulling away, as the Falcons were unable to convert on their scoring chances. It was a 7-0 third quarter that put the game out of reach, although Cerritos scored three times in the fourth quarter, with Hernandez scoring two of them.

Hernandez finished the game with a team-high five goals and drew three exclusions, while the duo of sophomore Sebastian Rico (Montebello HS) and freshman Alan Jimenez (Schurr HS) each scored twice. Sophomore goalie Rene Borja (Schurr HS) turned away seven shots and led the team with three steals.
