Men's tennis team earns impressive win over Westcliff

With an opening in its schedule, Irvine Valley's men's tennis team took on four-year Westcliff University on Tuesday at the OC Great Park.

And the Lasers recorded a solid 8-1 win over the NAIA Warriors.

Irvine Valley won all three doubles sets and then earned victories in five of six singles contests.

Freshmen Arthur Bellegy, Pierre Vandegaer, Luis Moros and Inaki Braun Simo each won in straight sets for IVC.

Simo won his match, 6-2, 6-0, on the sixth court.

The Lasers also picked up a win in a third-set, 10-point tiebreaker from freshman Kiichi Ishida on court No. 5.

IVC, with a record of 9-3 overall, is back in action on Thursday, hosting Saddleback in the final match of the regular season.

Irvine Valley goes into the match with a record of 7-0 in Orange Empire Conference play and will look to end conference with a perfect record.

Match time is 2 p.m.
