No. 4 Santa Ana Baseball Set to Host No. 5 Cypress and No. 9 Santa Barbara City in Super Regionals

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The No. 4 seeded Santa Ana College Baseball team has advanced to the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) Southern California Super Regionals following a sweep of No. 21 College of the Desert (25-16) last weekend.

Santa Ana (28-14) will now host the No. 5 seeded Cypress Chargers and the No. 9 seeded Santa Barbara City Vaqueros in a three team, double-elimination tournament from May 11-13th.

The Dons did not have their usual offensive production in the opening round of the playoffs, scoring just seven runs in two games. Instead, it was the pitching staff that stepped up as Hauze Fragoso and Jaxton Andeel set the tone with quality starts.

In addition, Joey Iglesias picked up two saves while recording four outs in his two appearances.

Santa Ana will match up against the loser of game one on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.

In their series against Cerro Coso, the Cypress Chargers (28-13) took game one by a score of 10-8 and followed that with an 11-0 win to cruise into the Super Regionals.

The Chargers, the fourth place team in the Orange Empire Conference, are a familiar foe for the Dons. In their season series, SAC took two out of three.

Santa Barbara City (29-14) finished in first place in the Western State-North Conference with a record of 17-7.

SBCC punched their ticket to the Super Regionals after battling Golden West for three games in round one. The Vaqueros split the first two games before advancing with 5-4 walk-off win in the series finale.

The winner of the tournament will host the 3C2A Sectionals on May 19-21st.

Ticket prices are determined by 3C2A and included below:

$12.00 - Adult

$8.00 - Students, faculty, staff, senior citizens 60 years and over, and children less than 12 years of age.
