SBCC rode a 23-9 second quarter to a 43-27 halftime lead on Wednesday at Oxnard, then lost its shooting touch in the second half of a 72-61 women's basketball setback.

The 20th-ranked Vaqueros dropped their second straight and fell to 12-5 overall and 0-2 in the WSC North. The Condors, who won the second half 45-18, improved to 7-9 and 1-2.

Jordan Parkhurst led the Vaqueros with 16 points. Sophia Torres added 14 points and four rebounds while Alondra Jimenez had 13 points (on 3-7 3-point shooting), three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

SBCC led 56-55 after three quarters, then got outscored 17-5 in the last eight minutes.

"We had trouble scoring in the second half and we had trouble with our defensive assignments," said coach Sandrine Krul. "We are going through adversity and this is what learning is all about."

Santa Barbara will travel to No. 2 Moorpark (19-1, 2-0) on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.
