Vikings overwhelm Foothill 20-2 behind Harris and Scheer

The West Valley women's water polo team rolled to a one-sided 20-2 win over visiting Foothill Friday at the West Valley Aquatics Center. The top-ranked Vikings (13-0, 3-0 Coast) scored 13 seconds into Friday's game and were never threatened.

Johanna Scheer got the opening goal and would record four more, including three in a row in a three-minute span between the second and third quarters. Alex Harris would match Scheer with five goals on five shots, including three straight between 3:56 and 2:24 in the third.

Aaliyah Lax found the back of the cage three times, as did Kianna Melvin, who also had three steals and three assists. Fatima Gonzalez Garcia also recorded three steals and handed out three assists, one behind Scheer's team-high four helpers. Gianna Bozzo finished with two goals, while Hannah Edwards got the start in goal and earned her first collegiate win, stopping seven Owl shots.
