RIDGECREST – The SBCC softball team wasted no time racking up runs in Tuesday's two games at Cerro Coso, finishing with its two highest scoring games of the season in 17-10 and 8-3 wins over the Coyotes.

GAME ONE
The Vaqueros (3-7) filled up the stat sheet as they scored in every inning in the first game of the doubleheader. Centerfielder Natalie Depasquale finished with team-highs of five RBI and three runs. Pitcher Sarah Hammonds led all players with four hits to go along with two RBI and two runs.

Also tallying multiple RBI were catcher Naveah Freitas (3R, 2H, 2RBI) and shortstop Armani Garcia (1H, 2RBI).

Isabella Huckaby went for three runs, two hits and an RBI. Alyssa Perez had two each in the run and hit departments to go along with an RBI. Lauren Indermuehele (1R, 1H, 2BB), Jade Leoffler (1R, 1BB) and Mellanie Barth (2R, 1H) rounded out SBCC's scorers.

Santa Barbara scored twice in the first inning, four times in the second and one more time in the third to take a 7-0 lead. Cerro Coso fought back with eight runs in the third and fourth innings, cutting the Vaquero lead to 10-8.

As it often has in 2022, SBCC saved its best for last, scoring five runs in the seventh to cap the seven-run win. The Vaqueros 17 runs and 16 hits were their most since the 2019 season.

Hammonds earned her first win after pitching the first three innings. Indermuehle spent four innings in the circle, totaling seven of SBCC's season-best 11 strikeouts.

GAME TWO
SBCC took the lead in the top of the first for the second straight game and never looked back. The Vaqueros doubled their lead in the fourth and made it an 8-0 game with six runs in the sixth.

Santa Barbara finished with 10 hits, reaching double-figures in back-to-back games for the first time since April of 2019. Freitas, Perez and Indermuehle all had two hits. Freitas also led the way with three RBI and two runs.

Hammonds went for two RBI with one hit and a walk. Indermuehle tied Freitas for a team-high with two runs. Garcia, Leoffler, Barth and Huckaby all rounded the bases once.

Hammonds took the win for the second straight game, pitching a full game and giving up just one earned run with four strikeouts.
