BUNN, CARNES LEAD KNIGHTS TO THREE WINS

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team won three out of four Golden Valley Conference games last week, sweeping College of the Redwoods 8-0, 8-4 at home before splitting with College of the Siskiyous with a 7-5 win and a 8-4 loss.

Macey Bunn hit four home runs across the four games and Whitney Carnes pitched a six-inning no-hitter against College of the Redwoods.

Shasta 8, Redwoods 0 (6)
Carnes threw a six-inning no-hitter and finished with seven strikeouts and one walk. Bunn started the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning and Cora Peterson hit a walk-off two-run double in the bottom of the sixth to enforce the mercy-rule. Bunn was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs, Autumn Campbell was 2 for 3 with two runs, Kiley Wendt was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Khloe Forrister had a double and scored a run and Riley Horton was 1 for 3 with a two-run home run.

Shasta 8, Redwoods 4
The Knights jumped all over the Corsairs from the start as Bunn's two-run home run highlighted the four-run first inning. Bunn finished with two homers in the game and was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs. Peterson was 1 for 2 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs, Carnes was 2 for 3, Horton and Forrister each hit a double and Campbell was 3 for 4 with a triple and two runs. Carnes struck out three and allowed two hits in three scoreless innings in her start and Peterson gave up four runs on three hits in four innings of relief.

Shasta 7, Siskiyous 5
Campbell's hit a go-ahead two-run double scoring Horton and Carnes in the bottom of the sixth to lift Shasta to victory. Campbell was the lone multi-hit game for the Knights, going 3 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Jadlyn Woolery hit a double and had an RBI and Bunn was 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Carnes struck out nine and walked three while allowing five earned runs on 12 hits for the complete-game win.

Siskiyous 8, Shasta 4
The Knights never led in the game, though Peterson's solo homer in the first inning tied it at 2. Bunn hit a solo home run in the sixth – her fourth in as many games – but Shasta couldn't complete the sweep. Peterson was 4 for 4, Autumn Tenney was 2 for 3 and Bunn was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs. Peterson took the loss in the circle after giving up seven runs – four earned – on four hits in two innings. Carnes yielded one run on five hits in the final five frames.

Shasta (5-3 GVC, 7-10) plays at Merced College on Friday and hosts Butte College on Saturday.
